Prince Charles, a supporter of organic food production, was impressed with how Prather
Ranch raises their organic beef and the certified humane handling of their livestock.
He questioned Doug Stonebreaker, manager of Prather Ranch Meat Company, at length about the
ranches husbandry practices and what makes their operation so distinctive.
He also liked the fact that the Prather Ranch raises Hereford and Angus, which are English breeds of cattle.
Prather Ranch, a vertically integrated cattle and hay operation, has been recognized
in 2004 with the Governor's Award for Environmental and Economic Leadership, the
Beef Federation's 2005 Commercial Producer of the Year Award
and the Region VI Environmental Stewardship Award for 2005
awarded by the National Cattlemen's Association.
